Spring 2022 COVID-19 Update: Prior-to-Arrival Testing Information

December 23, 2021

We hope that you are doing well and enjoying a well-deserved break.

As was announced yesterday, the University is requiring prior-to-arrival testing for all students living in residence halls, regardless of their vaccination status.  In light of this information, we wanted to provide the following information about this process.

As an on-campus Baity Hill resident, you are required to test through the Carolina Together Testing Program. Because you are likely already on campus, you do not need a prior-to-arrival test.  However, all spring residents, regardless of vaccination status, must receive a test before January 8. Please note that you are exempt from this testing if you tested positive for COVID 19 at the Carolina Together Testing Program (HallPass) or at Campus Health within 90 days of the January 8 testing deadline (October 10, 2021). If you have tested positive for COVID 19 elsewhere within 90 days, please upload that result and you will be exempted from this testing.

This can be done at the Student Union Testing site between January 3 and 7 during the following times:

  • Mondays and Wednesdays: 9am-5pm
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays: 7am-5pm
  • Fridays: 9am-2pm
  • Saturdays and Sundays: Closed

These University testing requirements are in place for the health and safety of our residential students and staff. Please note that participation is required as a condition of living on campus.  Those found in violation of these or other COVID protocols may experience the cancellation of their housing contract as well as other additional disciplinary action in accordance with relevant University policies, including the UNC Honor Code.

The continuation of all COVID-19 residence hall protocols, testing programs, and safety measures have been made to help ensure a successful spring semester. In yesterday’s email, University leadership announced that “We will announce any changes to the spring 2022 operations no later than Monday, Jan. 3”. As such, we remind you to please check your email regularly for communications and updates from the University and Carolina Housing. We also encourage you to follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for late-breaking announcements.

Additionally, please review the Carolina Housing website for additional details that will help you plan for a successful spring semester.  If you have any questions or need further clarification, please feel free to reach out: (919) 843-5492 or email [email protected].  Please note that our offices will be closed from December 24, 2021 until January 3, 2022 so responses to inquiries made between those dates will be delayed.

Best wishes for a safe winter break and we look forward to seeing you in January.

Stay well and take care,

Baity Hill Staff
